What to do in San Francisco on New Year’s Eve

If you want to be in the heart of the action on New Year’s Eve in San Francisco, head down to the Ferry Building where Market Street ends at Embarcadero. See the clock tower all lit up, as the minutes count down to ring in 2013. At the stroke of midnight, the fireworks show starts, whether it’s foggy, rainy, or clear skies. For the best views, head a little south of the Ferry Building.

If you’d rather be right on the San Francisco Bay, get aboard the San Francisco Spirit ferry cruise, for the New Year’s Eve Family Gala. General admission includes 4 hours of the open bar and full dinner buffet. Other options include a Platinum VIP shared tables for 2 or up to 8. Take in the beautiful views of the Bay—including the fireworks show. Feel like dancing? Check out the SOMA nightclubs like City Nights, The Factory, and Mist.
